About us
The Foster Closet of Pitt County exists to serve the foster, kinship, guardianship, and adoptive-from-foster care families in Pitt County and surrounding areas, as well as reunifying biological families. We want to share God's love to our local families affected by the foster care system by providing free clothing, toys, and other items donated by the local community.
The Foster Closet of Pitt County was founded by Jennifer Peak, a mom of three adopted children, in 2018 to bridge a gap between foster families and the resources they needed. She began the Foster Closet out of her garage until a partnership with Covenant Church provided space for the Foster Closet's growing needs.
In 2024, Brooke Kuhn stepped in as director. A mom of seven adopted and foster children, she has provided a loving home to eighteen foster children over the years. With the same care, Brooke led the Foster Closet with compassion and diligence. The Foster Closet moved to its current location in the basement of First Presbyterian Church in January 2026.
In mid-2026, Sue Cochran was entrusted with the responsibility of the Foster Closet of Pitt County. Also a mom to bio, adopted, and foster children, Sue aspires to continue the legacy established by Jennifer and Brooke.
